Responsive Caregivers of Hawaii has supported adults with developmental disabilities since 1975. Our Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) help each individual with special needs to be integrated successfully in the community.

We understand that each individual needs different care plans and assistance, and this is why our care services are personalized to meet each individuals’ interests, physical challenges, and medical requirements.

We offer a wide range of Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) for adults with developmental disabilities:

Home and Community Based Services (HCBS)

The home and community based services program was established in 1990 and is funded by the Medicaid Waiver Program to serve individuals with developmental disabilities.

RCH provides components of the H & CBS program:

Adult Day Health (ADH) in combination with Community Learning Services
Group (CLS G) – supports participants through a set of services on site and community based.
Residential Habilitation (RES HAB) – provides individualized supports that assist the resident with the acquisition, retention, or improvement in skills related to living in the community.
Chore Service – provides services to maintain the home as a clean, sanitary and safe environment in order to ensure the participant’s health and welfare.
Community Learning Services – Individual – supports participant’s integration in the community.
Personal Assistance/Habilitation (PAB) – includes a range of assistance or habilitative training services provided in the participant’s own home or family home to enable a participant to acquire, retain and/or improve skills related to living in his/her home.
Training & Consultation (T & C) – assist unpaid caregivers, paid service supervisors and/or paid support staff in implementing the goals and outcomes developed from the person-centered planning process included in the Individualized Service Plan (ISP).

Domiciliary Home Program and Services

The group home program was created in 1977 with the primary objective of assisting individuals with developmental disabilities in making the transition from an institutional setting to the community.

The program consists of a highly structured skill developmental training program focused on personal care, social integration, and systematic positive behavior changes.

These program elements are complemented with supportive employment and day activity programs administered by Responsive Caregivers of Hawai’i, as well as other private agencies.

Currently, RCH operates two domiciliary homes with a capacity of housing and providing services for up to four residents in each home. The homes are managed by Domiciliary Home Managers who provide a family environment and support the residents in developing their independent daily living skills.

These homes were built by RCh with funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Ubran Development (HUD). Each home is licensed and monitored by the State Department of Health.
